Kevin Goldstein at Baseball Prospectus recently listed out his top eleven Nationals prospects. This team still has some talent even though Stephen Strasburg has rolled off the list and there’s no surprise that the slugging outfielder, Bryce Harper, tops the list. The kid just turned 18 last month and we’ll probably see him at Hagerstown in 2011. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly this guy rises. Goldstein has him hitting the big leagues in 2013 which sounds about right.
At number two, the other five star prospect, is catcher Derek Norris. This guy looks like the pitching equivalent to Adam Dunn. He hit just .235 at High A but he sported a .419 OPB. We’ll get to see what he can at Harrisburg.
Number three is infielder Danny Espinosa. This guy is another masher and he’s major league ready. Goldstein says he’ll be the team’s second baseman and hopefully he can live up to the hype.
A.J. Hole (right handed pitcher) and Sammy Solis (left handed pitcher) round out the top five. Both of these guys aren’t in the Nationals picture anytime soon but it’s nice to see some pitching talent moving up the chain.
