Baseball America Top Ten Prospects

by @ 1:24 pm. Filed under 2011 Nationals

It’s always interesting to compare prospect lists.  This time we have the top ten from Baseball America.  Coming in at the top is no surprise because they agree it’s Bryce Harper.  They speculate he’ll jump right to High-A and he should reach the Nationals by 2013 when he’s only 20.  This kid is a potential stud and we have to be careful with him.  It’ll be nice seeing him in the outfield with Jayson Werth.

Number two is Derek Norris.  The catcher is probably a year away and he’ll probably fit in nicely once Ivan Rodriguez skips town or retires.  I like all of those walks and if he can use that to force pitchers to throw him mediocre stuff, he should be able to improve that batting average.

Danny Espinosa comes in at number two and you could be looking at the Nationals starting second basemen right there. He was solid in his stint with Syracuse and got his cup of coffee this year as well.  A.J. Cole (several years away and a right handed pitcher) and Wilson Ramos (another catcher, but he’s major league ready) round out the top five.
