Arizona Shuts Out Washington

by @ 4:19 pm. Filed under 2008 Nationals

The Washington Nationals were shut out on Sunday afternoon in Arizona.  The 5-0 loss drops the Nationals down to 24-34 this season and in last place in the NL East.  The Nats offense couldn’t get the ball rolling against Arizona starter Dan Haren.

Shawn Hill started on the mound for the Nationals and gave up all five of the Diamondbacks runs.  Hill lasted only four innings and gave up the five runs on seven hits and two home runs.  Two Washington relievers finished off the game by throwing four scoreless innings.

The Nationals line up was only able to put four hits on the board, three singles and a double.  The double was hit by catcher, Jesus Flores.  Aaron Boone went 0-4 at the plate with two strike outs.

The Nationals will have a day off on Monday as they prepare for a series with the St. Louis Cardinals in DC.  Odalis Perez will start the series opener against Kyle Lohse of the Cardinals.
