Cubs Rock The Nationals

by @ 6:54 am. Filed under 2008 Nationals

Washington Nationals pitching got hit hard again as they could not keep the Chicago Cubs offense at bay.  The Cubs put up thirteen hits as they topped the Nationals 9-2.  The Nationals record fell to 46-84.

Odalis Perez struggled with his control all game long and also got hit around pretty hard.  Perez walked four batters and allowed ten hits as he took the loss.  He gave up only four runs but only managed to get through 4.1 innings and had his record drop to 5-10 on the season.

Ryan Zimmerman led the Nationals offense with three hits as he continued to raise his batting average after coming back from an injury.  Anderson Hernandez, the newest National, added two hits and an RBI.  Catcher Jesus Flores struggled as he went 0-4 with three K’s.

The Nats and Cubs will finish their series today in Chicago.  Jason Bergmann will get the start for the Nationals against Rich Harden.  Game time is 2:20pm.
