Giants Crush Washington

by @ 1:04 pm. Filed under 2008 Nationals

The Washington Nationals took one on the chin at home against the San Francisco Giants.  The Giants have won 6 of their last 10 and continue to play solid ball while the Nationals just keep on losing.  Their 10-1 loss on Friday drops the Nationals to 25-37.

Starting pitcher Jason Bergmann got hit around about as hard as a pitcher can get hit around.  Bergmann lasted only 3 innings and allowed 10 hits 8 runs (5 earned) while striking out no one.  The bright spot on the mound was Jesus Colome who threw three scoreless innings in relief.

The Nationals got their lone run in the sixth inning when they were already down 8-0.  The run came on an Elijah Dukes RBI double.  The Nationals managed only five hits as a team , all of them coming off of Giants starter Tim Lincecum.   The Nationals couldn’t work a single walk all game while striking out eight times.

These two teams will play game two of their four game series on Saturday night.  Shawn Hill is set to start for the Nationals.  Game time is 7:10pm.
