The Washington Nationals offense continued to shuffle their feet as they were shut out again. Their 6-0 loss to the San Francisco Giants really showcased their offensive struggles. Their record on the season dropped to 25-38 on the season.
Shawn Hill started for the Nationals and turned in one of his best starts of the season. Hill lasted into the eighth inning as he went 7.1 innings and gave up only two runs. Since he received no run support, he was charged with the loss. Luis Ayala came on in relief of Hill and went .2 innings, giving up four more runs, putting the Nationals right out of the game. All six of the Giants runs came in the 8th inning.
The Nationals offense was only able to put four hits on the board and they were all singles. Not only were they only able to scratch out four hits, they hit into three double plays. This offense is almost completely inept and it’s amazing they ever manage to put any runs up on the board.
The Giants and Nationals will continue their four games series on Sunday afternoon. Garrett Mock is scheduled to start for the Nationals this afternoon as he will be making his Major League debut. Game time is 1:35pm.
