Hamels Shuts Out Washington

by @ 6:13 pm. Filed under 2008 Nationals

The Washington Nationals saw their recent hot streak stop at the hands of Cole Hamels and the Philadelphia Phillies.  Hamels threw 7.1 innings as the Phillies beat the Nationals 4-0 on Tuesday night in Washington DC.  The Nationals record is now 53-86.

John Lannan started on the mound for the Nationals and was hit with his 13th loss of the season even though he pitched pretty well.  Lannan lasted six innings and gave up only two earned runs while he struck out four batters.  He lowered his ERA to 3.88.  The bullpen gave up two more runs to help widen the deficit.

Six different Nationals had one hit to account for the Nationals offense.  Ryan Zimmerman and Elijah Dukes each doubled while Lastings Milledge tripled.  Willie Harris struggled as went 0-3 and struck out in each at bat.

The Phillies and the Nationals will play the final game of their series on Wednesday.  Odalis Perez is scheduled to start for the Nationals.  Game time is 7:10pm.
