Nationals Shutout By Sabathia

CC Sabathia has been terrific since joining the Milwaukee Brewers in July.  The Washington Nationals got in his way on Friday night.  Sabathia and the Brewers shutout the Nationals 5-0.  The Nationals record is now 44-72.

Collin Balester started for the Nationals and got hit with the loss.  Balester threw five innings and gave up four runs, three of which were earned.  Balester struck out four batters and walked one as his record dropped to 2-4.  Two Washington reliever threw the final three innings and gave up one run.

The Nationals managed only five hits against Sabathia.  Jesus Flores and Lastings Milledge each had two hits and Cristian Guzman added a single.  All five Nationals hits were singles. Sabathia struck out nine Washington batters and got Guzman and Ryan Zimmerman twice.

The Brewers and Nationals will play again on Saturday night.  Tim Redding is set to face Ben Sheets of the Brewers.  Game time is 7:05pm.
