Nationals Shutout By The Phillies

by @ 6:49 pm. Filed under 2008 Nationals

The Washington Nationals saw their losing streak run 12 games on Wednesday night as they were shutout by the Phillies Brett Myers.  The Nationals lost the game 4-0 and had their record on the season fall to 44-83.

Collin Balester started for the Nationals and pitched a pretty decent game.  Balester threw six innings and gave up only three earned runs.  He walked only one batter and struck out four batters but lost his sixth game of the season anyway.

Anderson Hernandez had three of the Nationals nine hits as he appeared in his first game of the season.  Emilio Bonifacio and Ronnie Belliard each had two hits but the Nationals just were not able to push any runners across home plate.  Lastings Milledge had a double, the only extra base hit that Washington would get.

The Nationals and the Phillies will wrap up their series tomorrow.  Tim Redding is scheduled to start for Washington.  Game time is 7:05pm.
