The Washington Nationals lost the final game of their three game series to the Florida Marlins. Their 4-2 loss on Wednesday dropped them to 34-52, last place in the NL East.
Odalis Perez started on the mound for the Nationals and was quite sharp. However, as is often the case with his starts, he didn’t get much run support. Perez went six innings and gave up only two runs while striking out three men and walking none. Charlie Manning took the loss as he gave up a run after coming on after Perez.
The Nationals managed only three hits all game so they were pretty lucky to even be in this game. Both of their runs came in the second inning on a Paul LoDuca single. Their only two other hits were a single by Jesus Flores and a double by Ronnie Belliard. Elijah Dukes went 0-4 with three strike outs.
The Nats will start a four game series with the Reds on Thursday.
