Nats Offense Stalls

by @ 2:35 pm. Filed under 2008 Nationals

The Washington Nationals struggled to get their bats going again, which is quickly becoming the theme of the 2008 season.  Washington lost on Tuesday 6-1 to the St. Louis Cardinals at Nationals Park.  The loss drops the Nationals to 24-35 on the season.

The Nationals pitching was scattered throughout the game due to a rain delay in the fifth inning.  Starter Odalis Perez lasted three innings and gave up four runs, only one of them was earned, he still took the loss.  Jesus Colome threw the fourth inning and gave up a couple of more runs to help seal the fate of the Nationals.

The Nationals got their only run in pretty unremarkable fashion, a Ryan Langerhans RBI ground out in the fifth inning.  Six different Nationals collected hits and Jesus Flores and Cristian Guzman each doubled.  That was it for the offense.

John Lannan will start for the Nationals on Wednesday as they continue their series at home with the Cardinals.  Lannan has been a very bright spot in the midst of a dismal season.  Game time on Wednesday is 7:10pm.
