Nats Shut Out Mets

by @ 4:23 pm. Filed under 2008 Nationals

The Skinny:  Jason Bergmann was absolutely amazing for the Nationals today, leading them to a 1-0 win over the New York Mets.  They took three out of four at Shea Stadium.  The Nationals improved their record to 18-24.

The Pitching:  Jason Bergmann was the story today.  He had a solid 2007 season but was disappointing this year up until today.  Bergmann threw seven shut out innings and struck out nine Mets batters, he also allowed only three hits and two walks in his outing.  Jon Rauch came on in the 9th inning to pick up his ninth save of the year.

What’s Next?: The Mets will head home (or close to it) to start a series in Baltimore with the Orioles.  Shawn Hill will take to the mound on Friday night in search of his first win of the year.  Game time is 7:05pm.
