Ryan Zimmerman Homers in Nationals Spring Opener

by @ 7:37 pm. Filed under 2007 Nationals

The good news is, the Nationals scored seven runs.  The bad news is, they gave up thirteen in their spring opener today.  Ryan Zimmerman led the way with the bat.  He went two for three with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.  D’Angelo Jimenez also had a nice game with two hits and two runs.

The pitchers didn’t do so well.  Shawn Hill gave up two unearned runs as the starter and then after that, each of the next five relievers gave up runs as well.  The only Nationals pitcher who didn’t give up a run was Felix Diaz, and he only had to get one out in the ninth.

Let’s hope the Nats have a little better showing tomorrow.  They take on the Orioles at one o’clock.
