For the second consecutive game the Washington Nationals were shutout by a Milwaukee Brewers pitcher. Yesterday it CC Sabathia, today it was Ben Sheets. Sheets completely shut down the Nationals line up and led the Brewers to a 6-0 win. The loss drops the Nationals to 44-73.
Tim Redding was unfortunate enough to get the start against Sheets. Redding worked five innings and gave up five runs. He was hit hard for seven hits, three of which were home runs. The loss drops Redding’s record to 8-7.
The Nationals got five hits off of Sabathia yesterday and matched that total against Sheets. Pete Orr and Willie Harris each had doubles while Ronnie Belliard led the team with two hits. The Nationals just couldn’t get anything going.
The Nationals will look to get on the board tomorrow afternoon against the Brewers. John Lannan is scheduled to start for Washington. Game time is 2:05pm.
